Hello from Ukraine, from Kyiv Hackerspace “Hacklab”!
My name is Danil, currently, I’m working on Hacklab’s youtube channel as my personal project. I try myself with different ideas in this type of field. I do filming and editing for a long of my lifetime, about 10 years already. Among other ideas with video content in DIY thematics, I came up with the idea of a video-tour of our space, just like the others hackerspaces did. As I researched later, there are few of such tours, that could be relevant for today. There is also a one playlist on YouTube with video tours to different hackerspaces, but in fact, those videos are 10 years old and above, so they are kinda rarity right now, rather than a relevant source of information. So that, I decided to try to make a playlist with relevant tours to hackerspaces. And since I can’t go further of my country right now, I want to test out the possibility to network with people from different places to take a part at this project.
Goal:
Create a playlist with relevant video tours to different hackerspaces from different cities and countries.
Create them especially for this project.
Mission:
Popularize hackerspace community globally and among Ukrainians in particular.
Film a tour with a guide-person. It is not a necessary condition, but with a guide in front of a camera it would look just a bit better and more kinda presentable.
Voice sound quality. Make sure that guide’s voice record will be sharp and clean. Use external mic. A phone’s mic would be good enough for that, but a lavalier microphone would be just perfect.
Avoid surrounding noises. Try to film a tour when there wouldn’t be loud noises of working instruments, or loud background voices. Although, if it would be a part of a tour - your welcome
Try to film a one-shot. It could be not so simple to make it in first try, but it would be much easier to edit afterward. If you have separated places in space and time - no problem, it’s ok. Just make a tour to second place one-shot, too.
Have fun! You can film a tour just as regular as you do it on a regular basis to your guests. But also, since you make a video, you can bring a little creativity to it. Of course, if you have any ideas. Don’t push yourself, just have fun.

Send me raw files, I will edit them and upload on our Hacklab’s youtube channel. In this case, I would expect two files: a video file and a voice record file.
I can edit your raw files, give you back a rendered video and we both will upload this video on our channels.
If you edit video by yourself, and you haven’t done this before, there could be some issues with post-processing, so ask someone, who worked with video editing already.
In all cases, I will make a playlist with video-tours on our channel, to stack them in one place. I will leave all the necessary links in the description.
You can use our video-tour, that we prepared especially for this initiative, for the reference. For now, it has access only by the link, because of the russians. Personally, I’m afraid that it could be a target for the missile. There were a few rocket strikes around our location already. I will definitely publish it, but a bit later.
I don’t know how to help in this project. But I’m a resident of both hackerspaces (in Kyiv and in Gdansk). Maybe I could be helpful in case of any misunderstanding. I can describe feelings and situation on both sides for both sides.
When you guys will be in the hackspace next time, for example, you can ask someone who wants to make a tour in English on a record. If Ivan receives agreement from someone, he can give a contact to @mars . If @mars finds someone on a place, they can film right away, or set a meet for another day. I guess, the best day for this could be, when you have a “open doors day”, or something like that, when people visit hackspace for a first time. I guess, there is always would be someone, who guide new people to a space, on such a day. So your proposition to film the video-tour would not break a usual rhythm of life so much.
